The Precedence network diagram of activities as follows :
A
B
C
D
F
E
G
The possible paths and their corresponding durations as follows :
A-B-C-F-G = 4 + 7 +9 + 10 + 11 = 41 weeks
A-B-D-F-G = 4 + 7 +3 + 10 + 11 = 35 weeks
A-B-D-E-G = 4 + 7 + 3 + 14 + 11 = 39 weeks
Since , A-B-C-F-G has the longest duration, it is the Critical path
The duration of the project ( which is same as the duration of the critical path ) will be 41 weeks
CRITICAL PATH = A-B-C-F-G
THE PROJECT WILL TAKE 41 WEEKS
It is to be noted that all activities lying on Critical path will have Zero slack. Therefore, activities A,B,C,F and G will have ZERO slack
Slack of activity D = Duration of A-B-C-F-G – Duration of A-B-D-F-G = 41 – 35 = 6 WEEKS
Slack of activity E = Duration of A-B-C-F-G – Duration of A-B-D-E-G = 41 – 39 = 2 WEEKS
