Explanation / Answer
The one piece of writing that I believe I have become better at through this course is Personal Essay writing. The strength of this writing is that it has the ability to inspire and move other people whereas one of the areas where it might be considered weak is the fact that not all kinds of stories connect with all kinds of audiences. So, it is difficult to make sure that the essay stays relevant for all kinds of audiences.
The one thing that I did not realise before taking the course was that personal essay is not only about storytelling but has a lot to do with structure and coherence like any other piece of writing. It is important to create an outline before embarking upon a journey to pen down a personal experience. Apat from that it is very important to polish and proofread the essay numerous times because it is easier said than done to get a piece of essay perfect on the first try itself.
Comparing my writing with my previous attempts I can see a marked difference in my style as well as the flow of ideas which has become very coherent and feels natural. One thing that I could not perform well was to hold the audience of my writing for long however now by providing with an engaging opening section I am able to do that well as compared to earlier. Alos, one of the learnings that was very important in my case was the use of active voice instead of the passive voice in my writings as much as possible whose impact I could significantly feel when I proofread my essays.
