DNA was prepared from white blood cells isolated from seprated individuals from a large human population. These DNAs were individualy digested with HindIII, subjected to electrophoresis and Southern blotting, and the blot was probed with a radioactively labeled cloned DNA sequence that is known to among these samples tested. From the southern hybridization pattern shown in figure A, it is clear that the option (b) can generate fragments of size 2kb, 3kb, 4kb, 6kb, , 7kb, 9kb, 13kb and 15kb fragments due to the variation in restriction sites, but the probes can recognize most of the fragmets generated, of 3, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 15 kb sizes only if the probe is positioned as in option b.
