Grand View Grocer’s Corporation’s operating strategy distinguishes it from other grocery chain companies. Each grocery store has a Training and Development Methods manager that allows decisions to be made locally, close to the client. This also makes Grand View Grocer Corporation’s service more responsive, reliable, and empathetic to its customers. Recently, Grand View Grocers Corporation has identified a that there is an increase in the annual turnover rate for cashiers nationwide. The increase was found in newly hired cashiers, so it was determined that on-the-job training was ineffective. The training method to be used would be combination of on job training plus classroom induction program. The induction program would introduce the candidate to the different procedure that takes place in the store. This would help the candidate in addressing the problems faced by customers on day to day basis like locating the product, finding substitute for the product, locating the bag,etc. Training has to be given related to use of card swipe machine and barcode scanning machine at the counter. Training also needs to be given related to importance of customer and its comfort. Interpersonal skills training, soft skills training which would help the candidate to interact with customers politely. Other training would include related to software associated with maintaining the records of cash received. This would require on job training of the candidate. On job training would give hands-on experience to the candidate in dealing with day to day problems at the cash counter and would help him to learn nitty-gritty of the job involved at the cash counter.
