Newbury Comics operates in multiple states, but started off as a single store in Boston. They encountered cross-jurisdictional legal issues and complaints about products that were sold. They did not have staff attorneys; as a result they utilized outside counsel on a retainer basis to address such issues as employment law, vendor, customer, and product issues.
Discuss what a small business will need to legally comply with when operating in more than one state as it relates to employees, customers, products, and vendors.

In every state lega comliance are different. So while expanding our business we need to take all into consideration with respect to Vendors, Customers etc…Legal regulations from the federal, state and municipal levels can often differ from one another, causing issues for multi-state employers. In every state tems & conditions are different. In different states taxes are different as per products.In many states many produced are banned Eg Maggie case happened recently. If we consider in terms of employees it includes wages, benefits, discrimination, background checks, medical leave, paid sick leave.
Eg If we want to expand our business in California it has its own family and medical leave law, including a very different take on maternity leave. Pregnant women in California are eligible for up to four months of job-protected leave to address a pregnancy-related condition which is not in other states. Every employee is an asset to his company. It is our policy to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those concerning hours, compensation, opportunity, human rights and working conditions. Compnay need to prohibits discrimination or harassment against any employee because of the individual’s race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability etc…
