It is very common for job seekers to use various digital communication methods to search for a job as much as it is common for employers to use social media and digital communication to get access to potential candidates and allow them to apply for jobs. Everything from the company website that allows candidates to apply online directly, to job search sites like Monster, CareerBuilder, LinkedIn, etc. - that allow for the posting of a resume, as well as the job criteria for digital matching/screening of candidates. Choose two different ways that organizations can use social media to seek out potential new employees and attract talent. Two different ways in which organizations can use social media to seek out potential new employees and attract talent are as follows:

(1) Put in place excellent Employee Referral Schemes to recruit candidates through Social Media – Existing employees in an organization may be told to make use of their Social Media connections on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter to circulate current job openings so as to recruit the potential candidates. Recruitment in this manner will be faster as people nowadays spend considerable amount of time on Social Media websites and coverage will be much larger through such websites as most of the people have an account in one of these websites. Also information dissemination regarding job description, required skills, experience and others will be very effective through Social Media websites.

(2) Have tie-ups with renowned Colleges/Universities to showcase one’s Company and Company’s job openings on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter accounts of students of such Colleges/Universities. The jobs may be customized (mostly fresher or junior level positions may be advertised) to fit the profiles of students in such Colleges/Universities. Talent hunts may be organized through such Social Media websites to recruit the best talents from the Campuses.

Basic HR Strategy for using Social Media:

We are a manufacturing organization. Our HR strategy will be to use Social Media websites such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter as mainly Advertisement Medium to advertise about various job openings and also use them to do background checks of possible recruits. Such websites can also be used to analyze the social behaviors of the potential candidates, their personality traits, their personal, social and business interests, their associations (persons, companies and various other groups or communities), their hobbies and similar other things. Thus we can have a fairly good idea about the potential candidate even before recruiting him/her and understand whether he/she will fit into the organization.
