Question

Describe how you would make each of the following aqueous solutions. Indicate the amount of solute, the amount of solvent, the glassware, and what you would do.
500 mL of a 0.100 M KCl solution by diluting the 2.00 M KCl solution Describe how you would make each of the following aqueous solutions. Indicate the amount of solute, the amount of solvent, the glassware, and what you would do.
500 mL of a 0.100 M KCl solution by diluting the 2.00 M KCl solution
500 mL of a 0.100 M KCl solution by diluting the 2.00 M KCl solution

Explanation / Answer

While diluting number of moles of solute before dilution = moles of solute after dilution

500 mL x 0.100M = V(mL) x 2.00M

Thus volume of 2.00M Kcl solution = 250mL

Glass ware needed

Measure out exctly 250mL of 2.00M KCl solution by burette /pipette and tranfer it into 500mL volumetric flask and dilute it upto the mark.
