State the law of definite proportions (or the law of constant composition). Consult your lecture text. 2 What weight of coinage metal, which is 90.0% by mass silver and 10.0% by copper, would be by mass needed to produce suitable chemical reaction, 25.0 g of sil nitrate? Silver nitrate is 63.5% by mass silver, Work this problem using ONLy the data ver need to use nor should you use either the chemical given! You do not formula or the molar mass of silver nitrate to solve this problem. 3. Determine the decimal equivalents of the integer ratios in the table properly rounded to four (4) 4/3

Explanation / Answer

Ans 1.

The law of definite proportion was given by French chemist , Joseph Proust .

According to this law , a compound would always contain the same proportion of elements by weight . He used cupric carbonate samples , one of which was natural and the other one being the synthetic.

Both the samples , irrespective of their sources contained the same amount of elements by theie weight, and hence validated the law.
