Question
Hey, so this is the H-nmr of my product that was synthesized via Fischer esterification. So we started with an unkown alcohol and we have to identify this unknown. ( the possible alcohols are benzyl alcohol, isbutanol, 1-octanol, isobutanol, 1-pentanol, isopentanol and 1- butanol. I think that my unknown alcohol was 1-octanol. here's the H-nmr spectrum please tell me whether I'm right or wrong? with explanation .

Yes, the unknown alcohol is 1-octanol. From 1H-NMR, we understand:
CH3-(CH2)4-(CH2)2-CH2-OH
E D C A B
A = 4.00 ppm
B = 2.10 ppm
C = 1.35 ppm
D = 1.25 ppm
E = 0.88 ppm
