Question

Consider the scenario given below and then advise fully on the ethical issues arising. Dora has been working on a semester-long research project, looking at how the rate of an ester hydrolysis reaction changes with the polarity of the solvent mixture. Of the ten solvent systems that Dora has looked at, eight show the expected linear trend. However, there are two that are significant outliers. There is insufficient time to remeasure the two outliers, as her research poster assignment is due tomorrow. Her supervisor has been called away on an emergency and can't be contacted in time, so Dora has come to you for advice. What do you advise Dora to do? Address any ethical issues that arise from this scenario completely.

Explanation / Answer

In my opinion email your sir in a pleasing manner asking for some extra hours and don't inform him that you haven't completed the work and tell him that you need some time to recheck the calculations.

Anyway if you are insisted to show your assignment on the next day and not permitted for any extra hours make a presentation including the two insignificant reactions in middle of the other 8 reactions and make the page with extra writtings and skip it as good as you can.Simply to say here we are bluffing them.
