Please Answer the follwoing questions if you can!!
Dehydration plays a role in the formation of kidney stones composed of calcium oxalate, CaC_2O_4. Why would increasing a patient's intake of water help reduce the formation of kidney stones? X-ray films consist of a flexible plastic base coated in a gel that contains light sensitive silver halide crystals (i.e., silver bromide and silver chloride). These films are exposed to X-ray radiation to produce images of the inside of a subject. Once the films are no longer needed, it is common practice to recycle the film to recover the silver. This process is done by shredding the film and placing it in a large cyanide solution bath. The silver is precipitated out as silver cyanide. a What can you conclude about the water solubility of silver cyanide? b Using your knowledge of limiting reactants, how can the process be optimized to ensure that the maximum amount of silver is recovered?Explanation / Answer
Q2.
Note that
CaC2O4 dissolves as follows
CaC2O4 <-> Ca+2 + C2O4-2
This has a certain solubility
So
amount of soluble material per liter of solution
solution in this case will be wither water or blood ( which is mostly water)
so.... the more water we drink
The MORE soluble material goes into solution
therefore
if 1 gram of CaC2O4 is present
this will have X amount of volume of water requirement for solubility
if we add water until X is achieved, then we will dissolve all stones
