Question
I'm suppose to write a paragraph on figures B and D describing what is happening. It has to be written in a form that could be understood by a non-scientist. The goal is to write a persuasive paragraph convincing someone to change their exercising habits while educating them a bit about cell biology. Cyclin DI and myogenin mRNA expression in the medial gastrocnemius (calf) muscle of rats in the presence or absence of resistance exercise. Cyclin DI proteins contribute to the progression of the cell into mitosis. Myogenin is a transcription factor that regulates expression of the muscle motor protein, myosin. mRN/A levels were determined at the indicated times following exercise. mRNA levels were compared between the muscle undergoing exercise (filled symbol) and the contralateral (opposite; open symbol) muscle. () indicates a significant difference (pc0.05) between the exercise and contralateral muscles. From Haddad &Adams; 2002. 3. The data is supporting the hypothesis that the exercise increases Cycin D1 and myogenin expression levels. Cyclin D1 expression is essential for progression of cell cycle through the G1 phase and myogenin is essential for skeletal muscle development and growth. From the graphs, we can clearly observe the increased expression levels of Cyclin D1 and myogenin in different exercised muscles. Graphs C and D are explaining the effect of exercise on expression of myogenin. The expression is lowest in non-exercised muscle and is highest in exercised muscle. Means exercise is the stimulus for the expression of genes, without proper exercise, the muscle growth is not efficient as in case of exercised muscles.
