Question
An engineer salesman comes to you advertising about a new invention of his company to separate and purify N2 and O2 from air (assuming 80% of N2 and 20% of O2). This machine will operate at 25 o C and 1 atm. He claims that the machine can operate 5 liter per second at a power of 1000 Watts. How do you know if his claim trustworthy? If so, what is the efficiency of the machine?

If so, what is the efficiency of the machine?Explanation / Answer
Machine can operate 5L/s it means it fed out the 5L/s at a power of 1000 watt. Now you have to check out separation of O2 and N2 this shows the efficiency of the machine if it separate out 20 L/s O2 and 80L/s N2 then it will operate 100 percent efficient but this is not possible practically. Engineers salesman claims that it will work at 5L/s at 1000 watt power. If it works then it trustworthy otherwise his claims goes wrong. Machine efficiency is totally depends upon it how much separation has done. So this machine is used to purify air as like R.O which purify water.
