Question
Bonus: When enzymes were first discovered in the early20th century, there was a great deal of controversy Were they proteins ? Nucleic acids? Carbohydrates? in 1926 a biochemist named James Sumner apparently resolve this by crystallizing the enzyme urease (which hydrolyzes urea to ammonia and bicarbonate) from jack beans. He analyzed these crystals by every technique available to him and concluded that they contained only amino acids. Hence, urease (and, by implication, all other enzymes) were proteins. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1946 for this work.Explanation / Answer
Many advances may have taken place, if Dr. Sumner had discoverd the presence of Ni- Units in the enzyme. This displayed a major of metals in enzyme function.
All the present discoveries would have been discovered earlier and we will be more advanced than now.
