The open end of a cylindrical tank 2 ft m diameter and 3 ft high is submerged in water as shown. If the tank weighs 250 lbf, to what depth h will the tank submerge? The air barometric pressure is 14.7 psia. The thickness of tank wall may be neglected. What additional force is required to bring the top of the tank flush with the water surface? Note: The amount of air trapped in the submerged tank is same as the amount in the tank prior to being submerged. d = 2ft, hsub = 3 ft. wtak = 250 lbf. Pam = 14.7 psia
