Question
Assume you are given a Bacillus species as an organism, what problem with identification might occur if your 55 degree C Plate were stored at room temperature instead of in the cold after 24 hours of incubation? What will happen to Geobacillus stearothermophilus plates originally incubated at 30 degree C if they are left at room temperature? Why? Describe the catalase test and tell which organisms it helps to identify. When is the CAMP test useful? Attach the question page from the Review of Microorganisms to this report.Explanation / Answer
When is the CAMP Test useful?
Answer:
CAMP test is useful to identify Group B Strep such as Streptococcus agalactiae.
Group B streptococci forms a substance known as CAMP factor. This CAMP factor enlarges the hemolysis area formed by Staphylococcus aureus; there by Group B Strep such as Streptococcus agalactiae will be identified.
