a. The initial Group B1 oxide/hydroxide precipitate is treated with HCl and a clear yellow solution results.
b. This solution is treated with H2O2 and heated. One drop of this solution is added to 1 drop of Alizarin Red S solution, and a clear yellow solution results.
c. The solution from (a) is treated with NaBiO3. A clear purple solution results.
d. Two drops of the solution from (a) is treated with 6 M NaOH and solid SnCl2. A black precipitate is observed.
e. The remaining solution from (a) is divided in two portions. KSCN is added to one, and a dark red solution results. K4Fe(CN)6 is added to the other, and a dark blue precipitate results.
