Question

Part A.

A balloon is floating around outside your window. The temperature outside is 11?C , and the air pressure is 0.700atm . Your neighbor, who released the balloon, tells you that he filled it with 4.90moles of gas. What is the volume of gas inside this balloon?

Part B- A 16.0L gas cylinder is filled with 7.40moles of gas. The tank is stored at 13?C . What is the pressure in the tank? Express pressure numerically in atmospheres

Part C-A 120L kiln is used for vitrifying ceramics. It is currently operating at 1275?C , and the pressure is 1.100atm . How many moles of air molecules are within the confines of the kiln? Express in numerical moles

Part D- A 10.0L gas cylinder has been filled with 5.00moles of gas. You measure the pressure to be 5.00atm . What is the temperature inside the tank? Express answer in Celsius

Thank you so much in advance.

Explanation / Answer

Solved the first two questions, post one more problem in order to get the answers to the next two questions

a) Using ideal gas equation,

PV = nRT

P = 0.700 atm

n = 4.90 moles

R = 0.0821

Temp = 11C = 273+11 = 284 K

substituting the values

0.700 * V = 4.90 * 0.0821 * 284

V = 163.21 L

b) Using ideal gas equation,

PV = nRT

V = 16 L

n = 7.40 moles

R = 0.0821

Temp = 13C = 273+13 = 286 K

substituting the values

P* 16 = 7.40 * 0.0821 * 286

P = 10.859 atm or 10.86 atm
