Question

Predict the temperature at which water would boil at a pressure of 1500 torr, assuming that delta h and delta s do not change with temperature, and use the following data:

h2O (l) delta h = -285.83 kJ/mol delta s = 69.91 J/(mol K) delta g = -237.18

h2O (g) delta h = -241.82 kJ/mol delta s = 188.72 J/(mol K) delta g = -228.59

All of the above is at 25 degrees celcius. (298 kelvin) I am thinking that I would use either of the two equations, but I'm not sure how to go about it:

delta G = delta H - (T * delta S)

ln(p2/p1) = ((-delta H)/R)*((1/T2)-(1/T1))
