10. A chronically low intake of calcium leads to hypocalcemia?
Explanation / Answer
1.Most people have an inadequate intake of fluid?
A: TRUE
Many people are less aware of intake of fluids. But fluids comprise 75% of the body weight. They are the reason for carrying the valuble compounds essential for the body from one part to another part of tye body. Due to the busy schedule in their day to day life, psychological problems on interest towards the food and water intake, lack of time are some of the reasons why people have less amount of intake of fluid.

2.All minerals consumed in excess of need are excreted in the urine?
A: FALSE
Excess minerals or vitamins inside the body have no use. Body uses what is wants and stores in the urine. The kidneys which are excreteory organs filter the fluids that enter them and absorb maximum of the minerals and very few are eliminated to outside of the body in the form of urine.

3.Sodium is the most plentiful mineral in the body?
A: FALSE
Calcium is the most plentiful mineral in the body. There are other minerals which are also major constituents of body. Here comes the ranking of minerals according to availability inside body
1.Calcium
2.Chloride
3. Magnesium
4. Phosphorous
5. Pottassium
6.Soduium
7.Sulphur

4.An increase in sodium intake is associated with an increase in blood pressure?
A: TRUE
An increaase in salt in the diet increases the sodium intake which will alter the fluid imbalanace. It causes fluid retention which causes blood to impact more pressure on blood vessels.

Calcium supplements are a safe and effective way to ensure an adequate calcium intake?
A: TRUE
Calcium supplments are safe to some extent. But taking in excessive quantities causes constipation , vitamin D excess causes bone deformation disesases. Also recent studies revealed that calcium supplements only causes heart problems when taken in high doeses else they are safe for heart.

6.Foods high in sodium tend to be low in potassium and foods high in potassium tend be low in sodium?
A: TRUE
Yes fruits which are rich in portassium have very less amounts of sodium.

7.Major minerals are more important for health than trace minerals?
A:FALSE
The assumption is false. Major minerals are required in large quantities and trace elements are required in less amounts , but they are all required for the mechanical process inside the body. Majority of the trace elements are the catalysts for the metabolic pathways inside the body.

8.For most people, thirst is a reliable indicator of fluid needs?
A: TRUE
But Thirst is the correct indicator if the fluid needs. Because a thirst means the body have been already dehydrated or some times thirst doesnt indicate the necessity of fluids it occurs due metabolic pathways also due to drugs which cause more thirst.

9.Trace mineral balance is strongly influenced by interactions with other minerals and dietary factors?
A:TRUE
The interactions with other elements influences the trace mineral balance. Hence a serious diet predominat with trace elements is essential for the body.

10.A chronically low intake of calcium leads to hypocalcemia?
A: FALSE
A low intake of calcium do not cause hypocalcemia. It is caused by the less amount of calcium in the serum. But the avialble calcium in the body can be used for the daily metabloic activities. However an effect on bones strength occurs due to the less intake of calcium.
