Why did the grape juice change color when an acid or base was added?
You added a base, sodium bicarbonate, to test tube 1 that contained citric acid and an acid to test tube 2 that contained base. Why did the grape juice return to its original color?

Neutralization reaction is reaction between an acid and base
HCl is strong acid ans its pH will be 0 to 7 depending upon the concentrations.
pH of NaOH will be between 7 to 14 depending upon its concentration.
grape juice contains citric acid and reacts with the base added giving rise to neutralization and change in color.
sodium bicarbonate is a wek base and reacts with acid to form salt. But when strong acid HCl is added, the reverse reaction takes place leading to retaining the color of the acid.
