I found Olivier Scalabre's presentation on the next manufacturing revolution was very enlightening. He describes how our growth has come to a near stand still through the times of huge revolutions for manufacturing in society. It's not just here in the U.S., as it is the same issue around the globe and I think it has to due with peoples fear and not understanding technology. I've never been a person of making sophisticated robots, but I understand the use of machinery can make production more efficient. Everyone who says that jobs would become non-existent are just scared of the change. It could lead to a domino effect of innovation with new jobs when production is operating efficiently.
Scalabre makes a huge point when he talks about offshoring jobs and how much work that could take away from the country that is doing it. It would make up for the loss of jobs that machinery would take, and it would encourage countries to do more trading around the world, which would lead to better economic growth. There's a reason why China is doing so well, because they are the go-to location for outsourcing manufacturing jobs. So by using production technology, we'd bring back more jobs for the one's who lost theirs, and the trade market would boom with the shift of more foreign goods.
Explanation / Answer
Definitely technology is the right thing to be accepted to enhance the economic development and growth. It can create a huge revolution. I agree with the thought that definitely technology will make the production and manufacturing processes easy, fast, accepted and up to date. The only thing people are facing is that they are scared of the fact that due to technology their jobs are at stake and they might loose it.
The point of offshoring the jobs is also a good point as the justification that offshoring will give back the jobs to many people who might have lost jobs due to technological chnages. The best example of china quoted here is also true. Thus, offshoring the production processes it will bring back the jobs and it will inturn bring boom in the trade market and finally there would be economic development.
