Please type down (easy for me to copy and paste) your response (thoughts) after your reading the following paragraphs. (min 5 sentences, around 150-200 words)

Olivier Scalabre's analysis on the fourth manufacturing revolution is reasonable as technology does boost productivity and growth. When he gave the Amazon example on Cyber Monday, it shows how Amazon had to fulfill every customer's order during the day where online retail was the highest. Without the help of advanced manufacturing robots, Amazon would have had to hire more employees. They would also have to train them quickly to bring together all the products, put them in packages, and to label the shipments. This would be the least cost and time efficient.

Unfortunately, when relying on technology or advanced manufacturing robots, the employment levels are not being considered. The rates will decline as more robots are doing tasks human employees once did. Robots can even be trained to do more than one role or programmed to maximize the efficiency of work. The employers would not have to worry about the shifts the robots would work because they can be programmed to work 24/7. Robots will soon start to take over the jobs. Another factor that isn't being considered is who will watch over the robots when it starts to malfunction?

Explanation / Answer

Competition is rising in market and amid such intensive competition, minimizing cost of production is critical for gaining competitive edge in market. Apart from this, customer satisfaction is also heeded upon. Amazon is introducing robots to replace human efforts in its delivery system. Cost of hiring and training people is relatively higher. Further, workers are not efficient enough to achieve the goals of organization in most optimal manners. Robots are very efficient and can be trained or programmed to function in multiple fields. Further, robots do not mind working in night shift. Robots even can work in most dangerous places.

Robots would prove beneficial to firms though, but we cannot expect that robots would continue to function even without any malfunctions. Malfunctions may develop in these robots. But robots are technology driven and likely to pull down cost of production. But these robots would kill hundreds of jobs in market. We are moving towards the jobless growth. Thus, use of robots would not be beneficial for society. Use of robots can be confined to limited areas where human efforts scarce or incidents may occurs such as mining and chemical factories.
