Question

Case study

Sherrie is a community services worker and the organisation she works for provides physical assistance to children living with a disability. As part of Sherrie’s role she must comply with the ethical and legal requirements of her workplace.

Since working for this organisation Sherrie has had to deal with several unresolved conflict situations, has observed breaches in standard procedures and been faced with complicated situations that required her to make ethical decisions regarding potential conflicts of interest. One of the major problems encountered by Sherrie (and the others with whom she works) is a lack of funding, which means that they are unable to do many things that they would like to do to improve their workplace.

Q.22 What are two examples of situations that contain the potential for a conflict of interest? (((( Regarding I don't want who answer this question copy from other in my post before, as I think the answer is not quite right please , Thank you )))

Q.23 Provide one example of a breach of standard procedures and explain what Sherrie must do if she identifies a breach in procedures.

Explanation / Answer

Conflict of interest in a healthcare industry occurs when the primary goal of protecting and increasing the health of patients comes into conflict with any other secondary goal. One of the major problem encountered is funding which comes under conflict of interest.

Generally speaking, a conflict of interest tends to occur in one of three ways:

In addition to conflicts of interest, another type of conflict is a conflict of commitment. This occurs when there is an outside relationship that may deter an individual from devoting an appropriate amount of time, energy, creativity, or other personal resources to his or her Partner responsibilities. For which funding comes under this scenario. As sherrie being a service worker for one of the organisation and they are not providing her enough money or resources to fulfill the needs of children.

2.As an example confidentiality of patients can be taken as a breach of standard procedures followed. In the health care setting, patient information is extremely sensitive, with records containing social security numbers and detailed medical history. As such, an organization must have an action plan and place and always be ready to defend its infrastructure as well as respond appropriately — and timely —  to any breaches of data. When such kind of a breach occurs in confidentiality of patient information then some steps should be taken as early as possible.
