Question

Please I need someone to answer the problems 4&5 with clear steps Please I need someone to answer the problems 4&5 with clear steps 4. Compute the work required to bring the following three charges from rest at an infinite separation to the following (x,y) locations: q1 = +6.00 muC at (0.0, 0.0) m, q2 = 3.00 muC at (1.5, 0.0) m, and q3 = +4.00 muC at (1.5,5.0) m. Assume the charges are initially at rest and separated by an infinite distance. 5. After the charges in problem 4 are assembled the 6.00 - muC charge Is released from rest. What is its kinetic energy when it Is infinitely far from the other two charges?

Explanation / Answer

4. there will be three set of charges ( q1 and q2) , (q1 and q3) and ( q2 and q3) .

potential energy of a charge set = kq1q2 / d

d - distance between charges q1 and q2

Eq1q2 = 9x 10^9 x 6 x 10-6 x -3 x 10-6 / 1.5   = - 0.108 J

Eq1q3 = 9 x 10^9 x 6 x 10-6 x 4 x 10-6 / sqrt(1.5^2 + 5^2) = 0.0414 J

Eq2q3 = 9 x 10^9 x -3 x 10-6 x 4 x 10-6 / 5 = - 0.0216 J

work done = change in energy = [ -0.108 + 0.0414 - 0.0216] - 0 = -0.0882 J
