Please help me with answering these 4 questions. Thank you so much 1. If you were trying to determine what is the appropriate antibiotic to give your patient, identify 2 methods you could use to determine which antibiotic is the most effective against the microbe and the amount to use. Your pregnant neighbor has a sore throat and tells you that she is taking some tetracycline she had left over from a previous infection. Give her 2 reasons why her decision is a poor one. 2. Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis was isolated from a foot infection of a 40- year old man. The patient had a chronic diabetes related foot ulcer and underwent amputation of a toe. He then developed a methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection in his blood. The infection was treated with vancomycin. One week later, they determined he had a vancomycin resistant S. aureus infection (VRSA). This is the first case of VRSA in the US. What is the most likely cause of this VRSA? What are some alternative ways bacteria can gain antibiotic resistance? 3. infection was successfully cleared abdominal cramp treatment? Why did this occur? iven a broad-spectrum antibiotic for his skin infection. His skirn up, but he has been having severe diarrhea and ing. What unintended consequence may have occurred due to hisExplanation / Answer
Q.1
Antibiotics are the medicine that are produced by the microorganisms and kill the other microorganisms in high dilution. For infection there are specific antibiotics to use.
2 methods to determine which antibiotics should be used and it's amount
1. Isolation of microorganisms
It is the best method to identify which antibiotics you have to use for the patient. If patient has fungal infection or viral or bacterial infection, separate antibiotics are present for that. If you isolate microbes and come to know it's name and morphology then it is easy to select proper antibiotics.
2. Allergy and history
Patient history and his allergy is most important for the selection of antibiotics because some patient have allergy for antibiotics while some have no effect because of resistance they have developed in past.
In such condition you must know the detail history of patient.
Dose of antibiotics is calculated based on the severity of infections.
