Shoulder flexion occurs in the ___ plane, about the___ axis. b. Forearm supranational occurs in the ___ plane, about the ___ axis. A soccer player is kicking a ball. Knee extension angle and angular velocity are presented in the figures below. Answer questions based on the data provided. For questions a-c, estimate values from the figure. a) Describe knee joint angle (position) at ball impact (0.56s) b) Describe angular displacement of the knee between 0.7 and 0.42 sec using the values estimated from the figure. Make sure to specify magnitude and direction (flexion or extension) of displacement c) In a complete sentence, describe direction of movement (flexion or extension) and whether the rotation of the leg is speeding up or slowing down from 0.42 to 0.52s and from 0.52 to 0.56s?

Explanation / Answer

a) At the given time, the first graph shows that the knee joint angle crosses zero degrees and becomes positive.

The angle required is approximately 5 degrees

b) The angular displacement in the given time interval is from zero degrees to eighty degrees. He is foldinf is leg during this time interval. Angular displacement= 800 (flexion)

c) From the second graph,

He starts folding is leg backwards at 0.07 sec (approx)

Backward velocity of his leg is maximun at 0.35 sec then it starts decreasing to zero at 0.42 sec

then he flungs his leg in the forward direction to kick.

This time the graph crosses the zero veloity line. It become maximum at 0.52 sec; it constantly speeds up

next the speed of the leg starts decreasing from 0.52 sec to 0.56 sec here, the leg again rebounds backwards as the graph again cuts the zero velocity line.
