Question
Can someone help with #2 and #3?
Discuss at least three ways your everyday life would be different if the speed of light were only 50 m/s. Be sure to state what would be different and explain why. You receive a traffic ticket for running a red light. You go to court to dispute this ticket because in your frame of reference, the light appeared green. Calculate, showing enough steps to convince the judge, how fast you were going assuming that red (green) light has a wavelength of 650 (530) nm. After running the light, you glanced in the rear-view mirror, and it looked like the traffic light was not working. Why?
Explanation / Answer
2)First of all the question stated only the speed of light is 50 m/s instead of c = 3 x 10^8 m/s.
i)Earth will be full of darkness mostly.
Since the distance between the sun and the earth would remain same and speed of light is only 50 m/s so time taken to reach earth will be very high and hence there will be darkness around mostly. Morning would be very late and days would be very very long.
ii)If you switch on light it would not immegiately illuminate the room since speed of light is less and everything would run late.
