I need help with the second sheet (tbeam reinforced). the first problem I posted the solution for it at the bottom dont need the first one solved again. Thanks!

Given: ROLLER 10 kips (Live Load) 2 kips/foot (Dead Load) (acts down) PIN 30 ft. Find: For the structure shown, draw the factored M, V, and N diagrams between A and B for each of the following load cases: Load case 1: U = 1.4D + 1.7L Load case 2: U = 1.6L Neglect the self-weight of the structure. Note: The roller support results in zero displacement in the horizontal direction at C, regardless of the direction (left or right) of the reaction at C.

Explanation / Answer

The given structure is unstable for gravity loads. This is because if you look at it carefully, there is a pin support at one end and the roller is aligned vertically. Since the roller is aligned vertically, nothing is preventing point C of the frame to stay where it is.The frame can just keep sliding down and rotate about pin A. The vertical deflection at C will be very high because of this instability.

The frame will be stable if the roller were aligned horizontally.

Also, this means the solution to part 1 is incorrect.
