Explanation / Answer
NASA has done following interventions for helping the common man.
1. Anti icing system for road safety.
2. Artificail limbs for disables.
3. Temper foam,
4 Enriched baby food etc.
These technologies enable the less abled to compete with common man, providing nutrional, logistic or locomotive etc help. These technolgies provide cheaper alternatives to traditional ones ,helping the poor.
3. Following factors are acting as obstacles.
- Vested interests in big firms are not allwoing this public technolgy to be used for the betterment of the poor, as it will affect their profitabilty.
- Industrial collaboration required to bring these products to the market is less.
We should think about the end user while deciding the use. Top down approach will not work. Priority has to be decided first. for example nutrition should be kept over infrastructure. Capacity building technolgy has to be promoted, hence technologies making health ,education and food affordable should be encouraged.
