(A) if 220 mA flows throug each bulb then

current through lead = 8 x 220 mA = 1760 mA

I = 1.76 A  


PD across lead = 1.76 x 1.6 = 2.816 Volt

V_bulb = 110 - 2.816 = 107.2 Volt

R = V / I

R = 107.2 / (0.220) = 490 ohm


(B) P_total = (1.76 x 110) = 193.6 W


P_wasted = 1.76^2 x 1.6 = 4.96 W
