Question
I have hard time starting this problem.Coatings can be applied to tapes, such as packing tape, in a continuous process when the tape is drawn up out of a bath of the coating liquid, such as adhesive in solution, from a feeding spool onto a receiving spool. You need to make certain that the coating tank does not empty too quickly. In other words, you need to determine the volumetric flow rate of coating fluid leaving with the tape. The volumetric flow rate ? is thought to depend on the fluid viscosity (µ), fluid density (?), gravitational acceleration (g), film thickness (h), and tape speed (V ). Using dimensional analysis, determine the dependence of volumetric flow rate on the other variables.
Explanation / Answer
mg - μAdV/dY = dm/dt * V
or mg - μAV/h = Z*ρ*V
where z is volumetric flow rate
