Question
May you please help me with a short answers please. Also I dont need explanation for the answer. Thank you. Microscope Slides 1. Examine a prepared slide of a longitudinal section through a mature pine pollen cone. Label a pollen sac in Figure 15.7a and a pollen grain in Figure 15.7b. A pollen grain has a central body and two attached hollow bladders. How do these help in the dispersal of pine pollen? One pollen grain cell will divide to become two nonflagellated sperm, one of which fertilizes the egg after pollination. The other cell forms the pollen tube through which a sperm travels to the egg. Figure 15.7 Pine pollen cone. a. Pollen cones bear pollen sacs (microsporangia) in which microspores develop into pollen grains. b. Enlargement of pollen grains. I would expect the structure to change the aerodynamics of the pollen, allowing it to stay aloft longer, and thus increasing the possibility that it finds its way to a female cone.
The labelling of teh diagrams are as follows:
1. Microsporangium
2. Germinating pine pollen
