Question
Please explain “a” to “e” Lab Assignment Outline. You are working in a research lab that is on the brink of discovering cure for cancer. Unfortunately, your cell lines have developed some type of bacterial infection. After swabbing all the surfaces, items, etc that the cell lines could have possibly come into contact with, you have a compuled a list of different, potentially contaminating bacteria It is now your job as a microbiologist to determine which bacteria colonies are infecting your cell lines (of course it is more than one!). For this assignment, each student will be given the names of 2 bacteria that are contaminating the cell must then work backwards to determine which tests, stains, etc to use to accurately identify these bacteria. That is from start to finish -what is your protocol for identifying these bacteria as the all others This assignment should include: My bacteria (Alteromones, Aresptrillam a Your plan for identifying the bacterial contaminants and rejecting all others (see list below) b. For each test you use, include what the test looks for and how to analyze the test (should only be 1-3 sentences) . For example: Gram staining identifies gram positive cells vs gram negative cells by staining their cell walls differently. Gram positive cells will appear purple while gram negative cells appear red/pink For each test, list which bacteria would be positive and which would be negative. Once your tests reject a type of bacterium as a potential contaminating candidate, you no longer need to 'test that bacterium c. d Finally, how would you test to differentiate between your contamnating bacteria? e. Include all references, use in-text citations . Pictures/diagrams encouraged List of Potential Bacterial Contaminants dcstivibre Acetobacter Clostridium Commebacterism Oclebactscium Actinomyces derosoccu5 Alteromonas undina Ancgclohacter Azospirillum Brochothris Capophanon Cellulomenas Electebacillu Haloxibrio Lactococctus Saccharoc StaphylococcusExplanation / Answer
My Bacteria (Alteromonas,Azospirillum)
1) with the help of gram staining tecnique Azospirilum is Gram negative Bacteria ,rods with flagella, non fermentattive and help in plant growth nitrogen fixing bacteria
2) the next one is Alteromonas is also Gram negative curved rods with flagellum.
Now , we have the our bacteria's characterstics and with the help of colony charecterization we can differentiate rest of all bacteria
Size, shape,margins,surface,elevations,colour,pigmentation,etc
microscopically we can differentiate the contaminted bacteria.
