Case study help!!!!

44 year old female with high blood pressure issues, but managed with medications.Patient complains of flu-like symptoms.she said onset of symptoms started during her trip to Farmington, New Mexico. She returned yesterday. Patient also complains of pain and swelling on leg.

Quick check with PDR and resident…..reveals swollen lesion is more than likely a bubo caused as a result of bubonic plague! The Resident states that immediate meds are needed and you wonder…the black death in New Mexico? How does this happen?

Resident states, its all about gene expression?   What?
