At t=0 the inductor was switched instantaneously to position b where it remained for 1.6s before returning instantaneously to position a. The d'Arsonval voltmeter has a full scale reading of 20V and a sensitivity of 1000ohm/volt. I hope the question is wrongly entered or missing the value of Source internal resistance of coil resistance.
If Pure Inductor flows is connected to DC source then the X=2f.L is equal to ' Zero'. Since the f=0 for DC and thus infinity current flows upto 1.6 seconds and finally the voltmeter will damage because of that 'Infinity ' current.
