Explanation / Answer

Answer 7.

Significance of line of duplication in metaphase (Mitosis) -

As at this point of time the chromosomes are duplicated in two sister chromatids, fully condensed, stop any movement for some time and alligned at the equator, so it is the time when one chromatid of each chromosome is available to be connected by its kinetochore to spindle fibers from both the opposite poles. Now this connection initiates the next phase (anaphase) where the spindle fibers attached to the kinetochores contract and pulls the sister chromatids apart and toward opposite poles of the cell.

In conclusion this line of duplication ensures the availability of two set of chromosomes where each will go to the new duplicated daughter cell.
