Please answer w the exact numbers as shown in the above problem.thanksss

The determined Wile E. Coyote is out once more to try to capture the elusive roadrunner. The coyote wears a new pair of power roller skates, which provide a constant horizontal acceleration of 15.0 m/s2, as shown in the figure below. The coyote starts off at rest 70.0 m from the edge of a cliff at the instant the roadrunner zips by in the direction of the cliff. if the roadrunner moves with constant speed, find the minimum speed the roadrunner must have to reach the cliff before the coyote. If the cliff is 100 m above the base of a canyon, find where the coyote lands in the canyon. (Assume that skates are still in operation when he is in "fight" and that his horizontal component of acceleration remains constant at 15.0 m/s2.)

Explanation / Answer

a) x roadrunner = v t

x coyote = 1/2 a t^2

we want the roadrunner to reach there at the same time as the coyote

70 = 0.5*15*t^2
t=3.055 s

so v = 70/3.055=22.91 m/s

b) so he will have a initial speed of 15*3.055 =45.83 m/s

y direction

y = y0 + v0y t + 1/2 a t^2
0 = 100 - 0.5*9.81*t^2
t=4.515 s

x direction
x = 45.83*4.515 + 0.5*15*4.515^2=359.81 m
