Question
I would really appreciate some help with this Physics question that I have....The question says: An experimental measurement has a result (4.5 +/- 0.3) m and a predicted value of 5.2 m. How many standard deviations is the experimental measurement from the predicted value? What is the percentage uncertainty? What is the percent difference between the experimental and predicted value? To calculate the "how many standard deviations", do I just do: (5.2-4.5)/0.3? How do I calculate the percent uncertainty? Thank you so much!Explanation / Answer
2.33 standard deviations . percentage uncertainity=.3/4.5 *100=6.66 % percent difference=(5.2-4.5)/4.5=15.556 %
