Initially, computer invention focused on complementing and replacing human functions. Computers required many components to imitate these functions. This project requires you to create a research paper that explores each of these initial challenges of computer invention. While there is no page requirement for this project, most papers that adequately cover all topics and requirements are 4 to 5 pages in length (double-spaced text).
In order to replace human senses, computers needed input devices for perception and data entry.

ANSWER.
(i) In order to replace humans, computers needed input devices for perception and data entry :-
From the first computer, that was invented decades ago, to the latest high performance computers, we can see huge improvements and changes in their applications as well as performance.
Computers have already replaced humans in many areas, for example: - earlier cars were used to paint by human hands, but now computers do the job. But still there are many improvements that needed to be done.
what is still missing - what can still be accompolished to improve this area ? :-
Yes, its true that computers can solve problems by analysing certain data but they still needs instructions from the operator that is , they are not able to work without any intervention. And the thing or the piece that is missing from making computers being able to replace humans is the harsh reality that they cannot think of their own. That is, they can surely produce good quality outcomes but the operator needs to tell the computers, what functions to do.
And besides this, the computers also don't have any emotions, which is something humans have. Therefore, in order to improve this, the one thing computers can be accompolished to improve would be to act as robots where they would have their own mind.
what do you consider a huge achievement ?
A real huge achievement in this area would be the pre-installed programs in the computer, which helps them to provide quallity output and data. We do not need to get theses programs after purchasing a computer, as these programs comes pre-installed in the compuer. But this was not the case before.
For example :- Nowadays, if we buy a computer, then we also get the operating system installed in it, that is we do not need to buy it separately. But, in earlier days, even after buying the computer, people need to buy the operating system as well.
(ii) In order to be able to store data and process it like a human brain, computers needed processors and memory.
In order to develop or apply certain functions, data must be stored and in order to store the data, memory is used. Memory is something that is very common in both humans as well as computers. We, the humans starts storing information by learning, right from the grade school. In the same way, computers have RAM and ROM for storing data.
what is still missing - what can still be accompolished to improve this area ? :-
Although computers have large size RAM and ROM, but still they are not enough to store the large amout of data or media that humans have today. Hence, the one thing that can be done to improve this area wooul be to increase the amount of storage allowed in computers to store up memory.
what do you consider a huge achievement ?
However, I mentioned the increase in memory storage as one thing that can be improved, but memory can also be considered as a huge achievement. Because, now these days, when people buy computers, they are given choices to opt for different memory sizes, from small to large. But, when computers first came out, the amount of memory that they had in them was very limited.
(iii) In order to replace the human nervous system and be able to perform computers needed software.
In order to be able to perform like humans, computer are undergoing constant evolution. And the one important thing that the computers need to replace human nervous system is the software. A software is a set of programs that are written by humans, to make computer perform certain important tasks.
what is still missing - what can still be accompolished to improve this area ? :-
Though computers have software that helps them to replace human nervous system is the fact that the software is able to completely function on its own. Computers still needs to be triggered on or powered on by the operator in order to perform the tasks allocated to them. The one thing that can be done to improve this area is to write such a software which can identify the real situation or scenario and performs the operation that suits the best for that particular senario, and it should perform that operation without any human intervention.
what do you consider a huge achievement ?
What I consider a huge achievement in computer software is the design of the computer chips. These compter chips have evolved a lot from the time the first computer came into existence and these are constantly evolving to meet the future requirements. Thes chips can perform various important tasks like : tracking and identifying the data which is lost. And the day they will be able to fully operate on their own, that will be the day when computers will replace human nervous system.
(iv) In order to replace humans hands,feet etc. computer needed output devices.
Humans have hands, feet and other body parts that helps in performing certain functions, for example : If someone want to drink water, then he/she can use his/her legs to walk to the refrigerator and can drink water. Similarly , computers needs output devices to perform certain tasks. Although, the difference is that computers needs human assistance in order to use its output devices.
what is still missing - what can still be accompolished to improve this area ? :-
Computers often gets affected by several viruses and the one thing that can be accompolished by computer output devices to improve this area is that several firewall softwares should be pre-installed in the computers to avoid any malfunctioning.
what do you consider a huge achievement ?
The one thing that i consider a huge achievement, when it comes to computer output devices, is the variety and ease of access. Modern computers have a wide variety of output devices , that can be connected with the computer to perform various tasks. And it is much easier to use these devices as compared to earlier time. For example:- Modern printers can be easily operated with help of internet or bluetooth which was not the case in early computers.
(v) In order to be able to permanently store data and information, computers needed storage devices.
Storage devices have covered a very long journey and through this long journer they have improved their capacity and performance as well. Earlier people had floppy disks to store the data, then came cds,then hard drives and now we even have online storage technology.
what is still missing - what can still be accompolished to improve this area ? :-
One thing that can be done to improve this area would be making more online storage options to store data from anywhere. And providing these options at affordable costs or even free. But while providing these online storage options, data security and confidentiality should be maintained.
what do you consider a huge achievement ?
The huge achievement in the area of storage devices is their well tuning with the computers. For example :- the data that we store online is synchronized with the computer devices that we used to log in to our account in order to save data.
(vi) In order to communicate with other computers, computers needed to be able to network and form an electronic community and electronic society.
Communication refers to the sharing of data and information between two humans or devices. Commnication is plays a very important role in any area of life. There are more and more networks availabe for the individuals to communicate.
what is still missing - what can still be accompolished to improve this area ? :-
One thing that can accompolished to imporve this area would be easy accesibility of these networks and it should be uniform across all networks even in different countries.
what do you consider a huge achievement ?
A huge achievement in the area of computer communication would be the amount of networks that are available and how tese networks brings individuals close by letting them communicate.
