Question

Please Help!!

A long vertical cylindrical wire of radius a = 1.00 cm is connected to a battery of voltage V= 1.20 V as shown in fig.a. The wire carries a current i = 125 A. A top view is shown in fig.b. Determine along the circular path gamma of radius r = 2.60 cm shown in fig.b Determine the magnitude B of the magnetic field at point P. Indicate the direction of on fig.b. Draw on fig.b a path for which Draw on fig.b a path for which The battery is now replaced by one that has an emf equal to V'. The integral for path gamma is now equal to 3mu0i. Calculate V'. Hint: Calculate first the new current i'

Explanation / Answer

1) Integral = Uo*I = 125*4*pi*10^-7 = 0.157 * 10^-3

2) B*2*pi*r = 0.157*10^-3

B = 0.9615 * 10^-3 T

3) Any loop which does not include the conductor current. Since I will be zero inside that loop, hence the integral will be zero.

4) A loop whose passing through a diameter on the conductor. This will cover half the current hence half the value of ontegral.

5) integral value increased by 3 times hence the current must have increased 3 times, means V' = 3V

V' = 3.6 Volts
