Explanation / Answer

Let speed of boat be Vb and flood be Vf

Net speed of boat when moving ahead= Vbi+Vfj

But the ne speed of boat should be in x direction

So, speed of boat= Vbi -Vfj

So net speed V=sqrt(Vb2+Vf2)

Direction=tan-1(Vb/Vf)
