For your first post, answer one of the following questions.

Read the article "Letter from Bolivia: Leasing the Rain" available at:http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2002/04/08/020408fa_FACT1 (Links to an external site.) and watch the videos: “Bolivia's Struggle for Water” (this will take approx. 7 min. total) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAgu7sGd5uA (Links to an external site.)and “Water Strategy for Bolivia” (approx. 3.5 min. al) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmOdvr0MveY (Links to an external site.)

1. Although the article is several years old (2002), it is indicative of the types of "water wars" that many fear regions around the world may increasingly wage in the near future as freshwater scarcity issues intensify. The videos were made in 2010 and 2012, which tells us that the problems are not going to go away any time soon, especially with climate changing. Obviously, we all have to consume water to live. Reflecting on what you are learning this unit about various aspects of the geography of water, discuss what you think can and should be done to help alleviate problems of water use by humans. Your discussion can focus on Bolivia, your local area, or can be generalized for a global perspective.

2. What are some of the human impacts on soils that you see in your region? Are these issues being dealt with? If so, how? If not, what do you think the result will be if this process continues?
