Health care delivery model:
Generally an administrator, a physician ad a nurse can lead the health care delivery model, in this team work accountability and operational responsibility for patient service excellence, care quality and overall efficiency of care delivery.
Progressive patient care (PPC)
In this Nursing care delivery model, each patient is placed in a unit according to the need of his level of disease severity as comes out in diagnosis by the concerned doctors. In each unit, the patient is taken care by nurses and their improvements are recorded everyday twice or thrice. Medicines are given by nurses on time. PPC is generally known by the statement " Right patient in the right bed, with right services at the right time." This model is extremely helpful and successful in delivering holistic patient centered nursing care.
Model's impact on the organization:
This type of delivery imparts exact needed care to the patient so it will require different units like Intensive Care Units for extremely ill patients, Intermediated Care units for normally ill patients, Diagnosis and testing units for investigations, Out patients units where beds will be kept,on just one day need basis. So yes all such requirements will need more resources but it will fulfill our aim of imparting successful treatment for all at right time with right level of care.
Yes, it will require a lot of staff because diagnosis, testing, nursing, hygiene maintenance, Mess for food, Ambulances, Drivers, helpers, Medicine counters, Pharmacists, Parking and so on. Everything required for proper functioning of Hospital will be hired.
Yes it is flexible because there are highly talented professionals available in each field. And they can be hired for imparting patient centered quality services. Better services will attract more patients.
The model aims at delivering better patient care through the organization of services, facilities and staff in the hospital. So any worker in hospital has to keep in mind patient care is utmost importance and accordingly he can take decisions to impart better patient friendly services. Also there are seniors in each department so if any matter is big enough to decide at his level, he can ask his immediate senior.
The model promotes collaboration among nurses and others. The mess and laundry departments are given exact timing hours to come to patients. The doctor’s visit also occurs at a particular time. Cleanliness department also completes its work in specified hours allotted to them. So, Yes there is distribution of jobs and timings in coordination with the nurses.
The model imparts quality in every way. Whether its hygiene, food, medicines, clothes, cleanliness, maintaining peaceful environment or doctors visit. In every field, there is better quality delivered and safety of patients. This model satisfies the client at the highest level than all other models.
