Explanation / Answer

Hi Answer:

1. Which of the following can be found on the cell membrane:

Answer: Option D [all the above] cell membrane contains phospholipid bilayer having proteins and glycoprotein’s.

2. The presence of phospholipids with increased number of double bonds will increase membrane fluidity.

Due to presence of more double bonds the directions of the tails is changed and forming kinks and these kinks stops the molecules from lying next to each other and stop them from soldifying.

3. Decreased cholesterol in the phospholipids bilayer will increase membrane fluidity.

The effect of cholesterol concentration on fluidity de[ends upon the temperature. More cholesterol in the cell membrane causes the membrane to become more rigid and less permeable to other molecules in high temperature. However high cholesterol at low temperature increase the fluidity of membrane.

4.Which of the following is NOT required for protein transport into nucleus?

Answer: Option B [SRP receptor]

5. Which of the following is required for protein transport into ER?

Answer: Option D [all the above]

6. Which of the following is not required for protein transport into the mitochondria

Answer: Option C [Ran GTPase]

The signal sequence of the mitochondrial precursor protein is recognized by receptors of the TOM complex. Then protein is then translocated through the TIM23 complex so that it transiently spans both mitochondrial membranes and a signal peptidase cleaved the signal sequence and form mature protein, after that the cleaved signal sequence is degraded rapidly.

7.Transport of a soluble protein into the lumen of ER does not require which of the following?

Answer: Option c[stop transfer sequence]

8.Transport of multi-pass transmembrane protein into the ER differs from the transport of a single pass transmembrane protein in which of the following criteria?

Answer: Option D [location of stop transfer sequence]

9.Selection of cargo into transport vesicle requires which of the following proteins or structures?

Answer: Option C [Clathrin coat]
