Question

Post your response to the following:

What is your research question?

What is the null hypothesis for your question?

What research design would align with this question?

What dependent variable was used and how is it measured?

What independent variable is used and how is it measured?

What other variables were added to the multiple regression models as controls?

What is the justification for adding the variables?

If you found significance, what is the strength of the effect?

Based on the results, provide an explanation of what the implications of social change might be.

Explanation / Answer

1. the research question is to find the relationshp between no. of hours work per week and respondents occupational prestige score and its significance

Also to find the relationship between respondents weekly income and occupational prestige score and its significance

2. Null hypothesis is the relationship between no. of hours work per week and occupational prestige score is not significant and the relationship between weekly income and occupational prestige score is not significant

3. collect the information about the no.of hours worked per week and the corresponding occupational prestige score of a sample of n respondents randomly

similarly collect the information about the weekly income and the corresponding occupational prestige score of a sample of n respondents randomly

4 dependent variable is the occupational prestige score and is measured in a nominal or cardinal scale and are expressed in intervals

5. Independant variables are no.of hours worked per week and weekly income these two are measured in cardinal scale and are expressed in intervals

6. if we want to find the multiple correlation, multiple regression between occupational prestige score and the joint effect of no.of hours work per week and weekly income on it , we can consider no.of hours per week and weekly income are independent variables

7. if the relationship is significant we have to conclude that there is strong relationship between the variables considerd for the research

8.in the given example the value of correlation coefficient is r = o.289 and is significant

9. By F test we found thatregression coefficients also found significant
