Question
In your fourth assignment of this course, you should describe how the human consumption of resources impacts the quality of life. Please describe how this consumption impacts ourplanet (global warming and climate change), the U.S.A., and your local region. How has the way we use land in the U.S.A. changed over time? Give examples from your local region if possible. How do you think humans will change the way they use the land in the future? What are some ways we can help clean up some of the major ways our environment was polluted in the past (mining, dumps and dumping, and solid and liquid wastes).
Explanation / Answer
Over utilization of resources: Carbon footprint has been increased in the 21st century. The increase in the use of electronics, home appliances, power usage has generated enormous amount of heat in the earth. Another important point to be discussed is the increase in the usage of vehicles like motorbikes and cars. It consumes lot of fuels like petrol, diesel and it has forced the countries to look for the fuel resources underground for the future. The methods followed in extracting petrol and related products has also released lot of heat and polluted the atmosphere. These practices has started changing the climate patterns around the world. Regional effects: In Southern California, due to gas leaks, ground water was polluted and it has created lot of health related issues like breathing problems, skin allergies, head aches etc. The fertility of the land has vanished. The methane leaks was the biggest in the history of US and people were relocated to different places. Lands were used for agriculture and water catchment purposes. But nowadays due to energy war, the land has been mined for the search of energy resources and it has tremendously changed the nature of the Earth. Future land use: In future the land may be used for almost nothing but to completely consume all the resouces availble underground and the population may be lesser than now due to the limited availability of energy resources in the Earth. Ways to clean up the polluted environment: The following points can be followed to clean up the impact created to the earth through pollution. Shifting to renewable energy resources. Banning plastic usage. Avoiding motor bikes and cars and using bicycles. Reducing the over utilization of general products in our life. Increasing the green cover. Banning the factorie which produces heat.
