Question
Melvin Muddle was having trouble with his car, so he brought it to his mechanic. after a careful examination of the engine the mechanic said, " it is hard to be certain, but either it"s true that that if the spark plugs and the points are o.K. then you need a new distributor cap, or else it"s true that if the points are o.k. but you need a new spark plugs then your distributor cap is fine, but not both." Assuming that at least one of the three items mentioned by the mechanic needs replacing, what should Melvin replace?Explanation / Answer
Since both possibilities say that the points are ok, Melvin should not replace them. Thus Melvin should first replace spark plugs to and then see if the car works fine. If it works fine then the distributer cap is ok as well. But if there is still trouble then the distributer cap needs replacing as well!
