Question

Incorrect Question 1 0/1 pts Our global temperature has increased and will increase further by 2100 but that warming is not distribute evenly. Which of the following would NOT explain why the Arctic is warming faster than other places? melting of ice and snow, lowering albedo increased low clouds in summer, raising albedo increased occurrences of large weather systems transporting heat from mid latitudes the presence of higher concentrations of water vapor in the atmosphere in the Arctic due to warmer temperatures

Explanation / Answer

Q1: Increased low clouds in summer, raising albedo.

It is seen that, summertime changes in clouds reflect a lot of the sun's energy, that creates offsett on the low surface albedo, and that it must be something else that determines the amount of warming.

Recent studies showed that, the total warming at the poles is cumulative effect of changes in clouds, water vapor, surface albedo and atmospheric temperature. Eventually there is greater warming in the winter than in the summer and that is caused by energy transport. The seasonality of the polar warming is largely caused by the energy in the atmosphere that is being transported to the poles through large weather systems.

Q2: Melting of the entire Antartic ice sheet leading to a sea level rise of over 60m.

Studies shows that global sea levels are predicted to rise by 20-60 mm by 2100, and possibly results up to 1 metre of sea level rise.
