Question
Patients who undergo chemo therapy for cancer type A alone, have an average 3.9 years to live. A new procedure is tested where on the top of chemo therapy patients undergo some radiation. The survivability for these 35 patients isgiven in table below. The average survivability is 4.68 years, which is much better. However the test was done only on 35 patients and this is a very expansive and invasive radiation treatment. Thus before we recommend it we should be very confident that it is worth the money and time (at least 99% confident). Help doctors with this decision.

Explanation / Answer
from above std error =std deviation/(n)1/2 =0.1607
hence test stat t=(X-mean)/std error =(4.68-3.9)/0.1607 =4.8719
for above at 35 degree of freedom p value =0.0000
as p value is less then 0.01 level ; we can conclude that this new therapy is better
